Students explore ranching in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. They design a model of a ranching village with a fortified compound. Students visit a historic ranch and attend a rodeo. They examine the cattle trails of the United States and their connection to the Lower Rio Grande. Students compare and contrast the life of a U.S. cowboy and a vaquero of Northern Mexico. They create a bulletin board display of cattle brands.
