Reverse and Compare

Third graders examine properties of multiplication. Using blocks and number lines, children identify multiplication strategies and write addition sentences for the multiplication facts. In groups, classmates model multiplication problems as equal groups. They reverse the order of the problem and discover that the answer is the same result.
