This Rime Closed Sort lesson plan also includes:
Practice onset and rime with this word sort activity. All the printouts you will need are included here, and it works best with a pocket chart. Beginning readers lay out the four picture cards along the top of the chart: fan, cap, tack, and lamp. Then, they take turns flipping word cards and sorting them beneath the image with the same rime. Encourage kids to sound out the onset and rime before placing cards. Show a few examples before letting them try this with partners. There is also a recording sheet where pupils can write the words as they sort.
