Slippery Shapes

Fifth graders conduct a structured experiment to determine the most appropriate material for lining gelatin molds. After creating a list of the properties of materials the have selected, they conduct their tests to see which material works best for lining. During the experiment, 5th graders identify the various states of matter gelatin goes through during the setting process.

I teach a variety of subjects and ages depending on what block of the day. Generally, when I do not have time to brainstorm on my own or just need to find a quick worksheet LessonPlanet comes to the rescue. Excellent variety of math activities and worksheets for my grade 3 to 6 class. In addition, I've found countless activities for my social studies 10 class as well as my English 7 to 9 class. Honestly, I would recommend this site to all teachers.
