Social Studies: Bush Vetoes Spending Bill

Learners discuss a newspaper article about the presidential veto of a spending bill for the Iraq War. Younger students write stories about helping others and decide if people who are not friends can work together for a common good. Older learners debate the president's veto. In groups, they develop responses to the democrats sending the spending bill to Bush exactly four years after he declared the end to major hostilities.

Lesson Planet has been fantastic!! I have been able to look at many different lessons based on my chosen theme and then just take the pieces I like and make it my own. It makes life so much easier and I have gleaned some great ideas. Thank you!!
