Social Studies: Every Picture Tells a Story

Students examine photographs of Edith Wilson to determine what they reveal about her personality. Role-playing as employees of the Smithsonian Institute, they write captions for the pictures of the First Lady. While the photographs and captions are arranged as a classroom display, students read biographies about her to assess their assumptions.
