Erosion is the leading cause of the loss of topsoil and sediment deposits in ditches, streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans. The ninth lesson in a 10-part series includes two different activities related to soil erosion. First, scholars observe soil erosion around the school and read about various causes. Then, they experiment with slope and plant cover to identify the best practices to prevent soil erosion.
