Special Friends is the theme of a unit comprised of challenge activities for those who have already mastered the skills in the Houghton Mifflin unit Special Friends. Extended learning opportunities include writing an activity book, a research report about ducks and chickens, a research report on Japan, a poem, a story about animals, and a friendly letter, as well as creating a museum display, drawing a picture to represent details from a story, and completing a Venn diagram showcasing similarities and differences.
