Start With What Isn't There

Explore a different style of writing! Read Caves, a picture book written by Stephen Kramer, which describes what isn't seen before describing the actual setting. After discussing the effect this style has on the audience, writers attempt to copy Kramer's model. Consider having a list of suggested settings available for your struggling learners so they can choose one and get to work! Please note that while the lesson has links for writers in grades two through 12, it is most appropriate for learners in grades two through five.
