This Straw Building + Marshmallow Challenge lesson plan also includes:
Here is a classic engineering and design challenge that has been used to incite problem solving, teamwork, and structural understanding for years. Kids team up to see who can build the tallest and most stable structure using straws and marshmallows! Each team is given the same building materials and is prompted to construct a prototype, discuss design flaws and improvements, and then create their superstructure. Tip: Check out the TED Talks video showing the outcome of this challenge and which team did the best; the kindergartners, the CEOs, or the management team.
