Young scholars participate in literacy activities aimed at decoding, writing, and identifying the /ch/ digraph. They practice saying the "ch" sound after the teacher models it, and repeat tongue twisters that contain the sound. Next they listen to a teacher read aloud of " Pardon Me, Is that the Chattanooga Choo-Choo?" and listen to Glenn Miller's song, "Chattanooga Choo-Choo." Finally, they sing a long with the song.
