"The Girl Who Loved the Wind"

Fourth graders participate in a variety of role-playing and movement activities related to the story "The Girl Who Loved the Wind" by Jane Yolen. They act out a scene from the story, simulate the wind using scarved, chant poetry from the story, and in small groups act out a moment of the story. Next, they write a journal entry describing how the wind should be portrayed if the story were made into a play.

When plans are needed, and time is short, I begin here for help from my colleagues. The framework of lessons, excellent worksheets, and multimedia presentations has proved extremely helpful.
