The Long and Short of Elastomers

Who hasn't enjoyed snapping rubber bands at some point in their lives? Here is a chance for your young chemists to snap them in class! In order to determine the effect of temperature on elastomer materials, science learners experiment with rubber bands and polyethylene. They hang weights from each and measure the difference in length after applying the heat of a blow dryer. Procedures, a sample data table, and background information are provided to make your teaching experience a breeze.

Lesson Planet has been awesome to me. As a 1st year teacher I often spend so much time planning and researching materials that could help my students/classes learn. Lesson Planet has given me great access to emergency lesson plans and activities, video clips, and many more unit ideas to succeed.
