The Mexican-American War, 1846-1848
Students write a research paper about James Polk's policy toward the U.S. claim to the Rio Grande. They visit the Brownsville historical sites and battlefields relating to the war. Students create a map showing the pre- and post war boundaries. Students perform research about Zachary Taylor's movements from Corpus Christi to Brownsville. They write an essay related to their studies. This is the tenth in a series of lessons.
