The Penny Problem

Students brainstorm ideas of why the penny is useful and why it is not so useful. They find facts about the penny that make it a worthwhile or not worthwhile coin to have around. they write a one-page letter to Congressman Jim Kolbe either applauding him for introducing a bill to get rid of the penny, or telling him that you want the penny to stay.
