Young scholars calculate the circumference of the earth using shadows. They measure the length of a shadow, and they have been taught the distance from the equator. Students determine the circumference of the earth. They discuss that it is claimed that Christopher Columbus sailed west to prove the world was round and not flat, but that wasn't the case at all.
