Study character development with a lesson from Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. After listening to the audio guide from earlier in the unit, kids track Janie's development and changes throughout the novel, noting how she is the same and how she is different by Chapter 12. They then write two pages about one of two topics that address Janie's sense of newfound freedom and the significance of her relationship with Tea Cake.
