This Too Many Bears on My Mountain lesson plan also includes:
After listening to the book, Blueberries for Sal, pupils engage in an activity designed to illustrate how much space, food, and water a black bear needs to survive. They take part in a simulation that has them collect small purple pom-poms that are supposed to represent berries. Groups of pupils get together and estimate how many pom-poms the bear would need each day, then conduct some math activities designed to show them how many pounds of berries a bear usually eats in a day. A good, cross-curricular lesson!
