Build on the concepts of shared and repeated subtraction division. The teacher guides the class through using both methods for solving a word problem, including formulating an equation. After pairing off for independent practice, one partner uses shared division to solve a problem, the other repeated subtraction. Then then compare answers to see if the result is the same, and recalculate if not.
