Using Conjunctions in Your Writing

Young writers practice using the conjunctions and, or, or but to give their writing variety and keep it from being too choppy. They complete two exercises in which they use one of these conjunctions in each of five sentences in a paragraph about the dust bowl. They practice combining five pairs of short sentences into one using conjunctions. Then they apply these skills to a research report, assigned here, about workers in their school.
