Using NPR in the Classroom: A Beginner's Guide

Here is the first lesson I've come across produced by NPR. Not surprisingly, it's terrific! After a discussion about what pupils know, and would like to know about slavery, the entire class listens to an NPR report. While they are listening, they take notes on a worksheet embedded in the plan. The program can be paused at any time for discussion. Excellent discussion questions are included, as is a meaningful writing task at the end of the lesson. Bravo NPR!

I'm an experienced teacher, but I'm teaching new content. Lesson Planet helps me understand and teach that new content. I always find lots to choose from and adapt for my classroom. Thank you!
