Wacky W's and Marvelous M's

Students examine the difference between the letters m and w using Elkonin boxes and the Dr. Seuss's ABC Book. They determine the proper way to write the letters and recognize them. Next, they use the letters and Elkonin boxes to make words. For a mnemonic device they use their fingers to model the w. Finally, they circle the letters m and w in words on a word list.

Lesson Planet has taken the stress away of trying to come up with an interesting lesson that hooks the students. This is important for a rookie teacher.
