Fourth graders examine the process of visualization while reading as a tool for increasing their comprehension. They practice visualizing while the teacher leads they through the process of making pictures in their heads. They listen to a reading of Jack Prelustsky's poem, "Thanksgiving Day Parade," while visualizing what is happening in the poem. In small groups, they read a segment of a book and illustrate it to share with the class. As an assessment, each student makes a poem book.
