Who Needs Illustrations?

Fourth graders examine the process of using visualization to increase their reading comprehension. They practice visualizing while the teacher reads a poem aloud and share their mental images. Next, they apply the techniques while silently reading chapters from Patricia MacLachlan's book Sarah Plain and Tall . As an assessment, they draw a picture of one paragraph from their silent reading.
