Students read an article about President Bush being granted approval to listen in to or read emails between people without approval from the government if the United States is at risk. Individually, they write a paper persuading others to whether or not the government should have this much authority. To end the lesson, they draw different scenes of a comic strip in which they show whether individual or group benefits are more important.

Lesson Planet has been a great site for me because I teach grades K-6 and some of my lessons are not easy to teach. It has made it possible for me to come with lessons students can understand. This is one of my favorite resources to pull and review from. Thank you Lesson Planet!
