What's better than talking about water quality issues in your hometown? Doing something about it! Scholars come up with a community action plan to take care of a local environmental issue having to do with the water supply. They determine the problem, come up with a plan, implement the idea, and evaluate the success as a group. Make this a more engaging activity by inviting local policy-makers and environmental activists to speak to learners in order to excite them about their quest. Consider incorporating marketing and graphic design into the activity, and be sure to examine other similar community service days as examples.
