This Working with Parabolas lesson plan also includes:
Fire off a parabolic graph and prove that the height of the fireworks will safely be above 76 feet. The lesson uses a graphing calculator and discusses what the labels of the graph should be. Using the vertex formula, learners prove that the height will be above the minimum necessary to keep the ground safe.
- Break the class into small groups and have them all compare their graphs and labels at the end of the activity
- Graphing and calculating component are both required
- Real-world application problem
- The answer key does not have the graph
