World Rhythms

Here is a lesson is designed to help children explore cultural traditions through music and movement. They listen to different kinds of music and learn where in the world the music originates. This could be used a jumping-off point into a unit about music around the world. The combination of listening to, dancing to, and creating music is quite nice and is based on the Arthur episode: "Arthur and The Square Dance."
