Learners are challenged to think and write about fractions in a variety of different ways, such as identifying, comparing, and manipulating them. Young mathematicians construct feasible arguments for a given mathematical statement in order to prove their understanding of equivalent fractions. Encourage children to use fraction strips in helping to discover their answers, as well as numbers, words, and drawings when explaining their arguments. Great for addressing and avoiding common misconceptions dealing with equivalency. Note: The worksheet attached is formatted incorrectly, but it can still be used.
