Instructional Ideas

  • Project the documents onto the whiteboard or Smart Board, guiding learners through the writing process
  • Have your class write a class letter together, following the steps from the lesson, and then transition to writing individual letters to parents, friends, or members of the community to ask for something that they want
Classroom Considerations

  • Most of the packet is in color, making it more efficient to use as a presentation for a writing lesson rather than a reference packet for your class (though the first page is a good graphic organizer to hand out)
  • Doesn't include a rubric for assessment
Pros

  • Guides young writers through the writing process for a friendly persuasive letter
  • Provides a worksheet for your class to brainstorm their writing, as well as examples of edited letters
Cons

  • None
