Analyzing a Data Set

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Instructional Ideas
  • Prior to working examples, have class members create tables of data that could be modeled by linear, quadratic, or exponential functions
  • Create a matching activity with a set of tables and corresponding types of functions
Classroom Considerations
  • The lesson assumes pupils recognize the shape of linear, quadratic, and exponential functions
  • Use word processing programs to assist with journaling
  • The second in a ten-module unit designed for the last unit in an Algebra I course
Pros
  • Scaffolding suggestions are provided for the teacher throughout the lesson
  • Exit ticket provided in order to assess understanding
Cons
  • None
