Worksheet

Determining the Enthalpy Change of a Reaction

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

In this enthalpy of reactions worksheet, students use a known amount of copper (II) sulphate solution and an excess of zinc powder to calculate the enthalpy change of the reaction. Students measure the temperature change over the course of the reaction, plot their data, extrapolate the curve back to 3 minutes for when the zinc was added to the solution and calculate the enthalpy change using the data for reaction.
