Understanding the power of line in art is a step toward becoming a good artist. Provide a systematic way for learners to either show what they know about line, or explore how line affects the visual experience of the viewer. They create a 4x4 grid and then trace or copy an image of one object (the same object) into each square. They go over drawing and design vocabulary, and then apply each term to their object. The result is neat, and it can also be used as an assessment.
