Students identify stereotypes, especially those applied to American Indians.  In this teaching tolerance activity, students read an essay entitled " I Hated Tonto (Still Do)" and discuss the negative impact that stereotypes may have on a society.  Students view clips from Western films and evaluate primary sources for bias and bigotry.  Students research the period of Westward Expansion translating their findings into a mock interview with an historian.
