Young scholars improve their reading comprehension through predicting, connecting with text and summarizing. Students should have already read the book Seedfolks and made predictions based upon what they had seen from the cover and pictures before reading. Some strategies introduced are picking 10 words from a chapter and telling why they are important and what it connects to, writing about the story in a journal, and doing a SWBS chart.
