Learners listen, clap, compose and identify various rhythms.  In this rhythm lesson, students practice rhythm with rhythm cards.  Learners become familiar with stick notation. Students glue Popsicle sticks to illustrate rhythms.

Young scholars perform Star Spangled Banner, and analyze purpose and meaning of patriotic songs.

Second graders are exposed to a variety of attributes of melody in seven lessons of this unit. the notation in treble clef, pitch, and the movements of the melody are presented in these lessons.

Fourth graders improvise missing harmony accompaniment for a soloist performing "The Star Spangled Banner." Groups select several familiar melodies that they can produce while individual students take turns improvising a new harmony part.
