Students examine the basic biosphere and its components.  In this ecology instructional activity students complete several experiments including designing a system that is balanced to sustain life.

Students create a miniature rainforest ecosystem, a terrarium. Students then explain how the continuous flow of energy and food in the ecosystem allows it to sustain itself.

Middle schoolers discuss the characteristics of the biosphere, with a focus on the Tibetan Plateau. They participate in a question and answer period discussing biomes and climate patterns. They compare and contrast different ecosystems.

Students examine the concepts in the ecological organization unit.  In this ecological lesson students explore news articles that have to do with the study of ecology.
