Fourth graders identify personal biases and formulate a plan to 'make a difference. They, hopefully, increase their sensitivity to diversity. Groups of students view photographs of different people, and share their first impressions.

Students discuss relationship between environments, natural resources and housing, establish connection with students in classroom or school there, and paint pictures of what they think homes look like based on basic data about environment.

Pupils draw on their knowledge of Impressionist and Asian landscapes to reflect on the differences found in the two genres of landscape painting.

Ninth graders, working in pairs, use a multimedia world atlas, Encarta Multimedia Encyclopedia and the Internet (as well as any text materials found in the library) to research information about a specific region of the world.
