Students use this following the study of pedigree designs and human genetics. Four pedigree designs are prepared of your (student's) family's genetics. They construct the pedigree representing two, three, or four generations.

Learners identify inherited traits. In this heredity lesson, students watch a video and construct a genetic description of themselves.

Eighth graders become familiar with Punnett squares, specifically purpose, application and interpretation. Key terms from previous lessons (included below) are reviewed/reinforced before data is applied to a Punnett square and interpreted.

Students create a family pedigree, relate the laws of inheritance to a family pedigree, and determine certain phenotypes and corresponding genotypes of members in their family.
