Students explore puppetry. For this puppetry lesson, students research the history and culture of puppets. Student begin to understand that art work has special characteristics. Students create their own marionette puppet.

Students brainstorm and illustrate different types of costumes and characters. After a lecture/demo, students choose their favorite character and create a ceramic marionette.

Second graders read the book, All the World Loves a Puppet and create puppet shows. Their stories include beginnings, middles, and ends that present problems and solutions.
