High schoolers analyze text and utilize outside resources to determine Iago's fate, which is not addressed by Shakespeare in Othello; students present their findings in an organized trial scenario.

Ninth graders explore the role of government on terrorism.  In this current events lesson, 9th graders create a trial for an individual who has been suspected for terrorism.  Students present the case to the jury. 

Middle schoolers brainstorm crimes committed by characters from that text. Groups of students work together to act as the prosecution or defense for the selected characters, while also acting as the jury for other groups.

Students explore concepts about civil liberties, research the history of sedition-related legislation in the U.S. and create a position paper on the topic.

Students conduct a mock trial and follow established procedures role-playing attorneys, witnesses, judges, bailiffs, etc. Students examine documents, present arguments and decide a case in which a sea lion is on trial for eating fish.
