Students construct a personalized book with their own family members to practice family vocabulary and literacy in English. This activity would benefit any kindergartener; but is especially aimed at the English Learner.

Students anonymously answer a set of questions listing favorite activities and preferences. They exchange papers and attempt to determine certain characteristics of their "mystery" classmate.

Students research and report on aspects of kites including: history, types, building and flying kites. They use Inspiration Software as a graphic organizer. They use gathered research to complete informational booklets.

Students engage in a lesson which honors the Latino community as part of Thirteen/WNET's annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. They utilize worksheets and access websites imbedded in this plan which guide their learning.
