Students research different philanthropic organizations. They identify the mission of each organization and compare and contrast them. They create a presentation about one of the organizations to give to the class.

Students listen to a statement about Zora Neale Hurston's essay, "Turpentine" and discuss if they agree or disagree with it. They work in groups to record information supporting their position.
