Students learn the importance of texture as an element of design in fashion. They complete a portfolio page discussing their knowledge of texture.

Students examine the history of fashion through a Powerpoint presentation and several hands-on projects. After creating their own presentations of particular fashion eras, they sketch costume examples and place them in portfolios.

Third graders illustrate a fiction novel by painting a depiction of the book on a tee shirt and then sharing it with the class.

Students study the history behind clay rattles. They form and create a clay rattle using ceramic sculptural techniques and important composition and design elements.
