Which one has two more? Each row of objects has a corresponding row, and mathematicians determine which one has two more than the other, checking it off. They work with single-digit values here and should be encouraged to write the actual number of objects in each row to solidify number value concepts. Next, they practice beginning addition skills by counting sets of hats and socks, adding two more and calculating the total. There are two of these, and the sums are both single-digit. Again, having them write numerals beneath each set would be a helpful extension. They are written at the bottom of the page as a guide.
