Writing equations from images helps young mathematicians grasp addition, especially when they get to look at cute animals as they do it. There are six number sentences here, each illustrated with a set of animals corresponding to the addends. Scholars use the images to fill in the blank number sentence, and one is done for them as an example. Next, they complete 12 more equations without images. Some of these are missing addends and others sums. As an extension, consider having learners create their own animal number sentence, illustrating a math equation with a creative visual.
