African Americans in World War I - Lesson Two
Pupils explore the decision to allow African Americans enlist in the military. In teams of three to four, students debate allowing Muslim Americans to enlist in the war. Pupils not participating in the debate serve as legislatures. Votes on the debate are tallied and graphed. Afterwards, students discuss changes in the military as a result of World War I. They compare and contrast the military of World War I to the military of today.
