Aldridge Sawmill -- The Story in Numbers

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Seventh graders view a recent transparency of the average rainfall zones of the state of Texas. Using another transparency, they identify the Piney Woods subregion of the Gulf Coastal Plain and locate national forests and sawmills. They read a story about the Aldridge sawmill and complete a worksheet with or without a partner. After reviewing the answers, they discover the characteristics of a boom and bust economy.
