This lesson plan will be implemented as part of a character education unit on integrity. Students will apply research skills, open-ended discussions, and cooperative learning experiences to investigate the meaning of "respect." Practicing good manners means showing respect for yourself, for others, for property, and for the world at large. Many of these basic courtesies are automatically included when the "Golden Rule" (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you) is the rule of thumb. Giving respect to others and having respect for oneself is an integral part of developing good character.
