This lesson will actively engage middle schoolers to identify and add positive and negative integers. In cooperative groups, students will discuss everyday vocabulary that will activate middle schoolers' existing background knowledge and set the purpose for understanding integers. Students will integrate new information with prior knowledge. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.
